V40P automatic air inlet

The FAKRO Company has introduced to the market another technical innovation – an automatic air inlet V40P. Currently, it is a standard solution incorporated in FAKRO roof windows. Through constant automatic adjustment of the air flow passage, the V40P air inlet supplies an optimum amount of fresh air into the room ensuring healthy microclimate in the loft conversions and energy savings.

In the past, air inflow was ensured by the draughtiness of windows and doors, thanks to which the natural ventilation system could function properly, ensuring air exchange in the rooms. Nevertheless, draughtiness induced air inflow was uncontrolled which led to huge heat losses and high heating costs.

Modern building systems are characterised by increased woodwork tightness which lowers heating costs but, at the same time, restricts fresh air inflow into the rooms.

Consequently, the microclimate in the habitable spaces deteriorates quite significantly.

In order to ensure healthy microclimate it is necessary to let fresh air inside. Currently, fresh air inflow is achieved by purposeful unsealing the windows as well as through air inlets installed in windows or mechanical ventilation systems. At the same time we wish our house to be energy-saving and cheap to maintain. Unfortunately, even the best insulation will not completely eliminate heat losses in the winter. Heat penetrates through fabric of the rooms (walls, windows, roof, floor) but the largest amount of it in form of warmed air, even 35%, is extracted through ventilation ducts.

In case of natural ventilation systems fresh air flows through an air inlet into the room thanks to the pressure difference between inside and outside of the room. The pressure difference depends on the temperature differences and strength of the wind gusts.

In the wintertime and during windy weather, through the same opening flows few times more air then under normal conditions. This leads to cold air inflow in the amount even few times exceeding the recommended values which results in excessive room cooling.

The V40P air inlet used in FAKRO windows by continuous automatic adjustment of the air flow duct size, supplies an optimum amount of air into the room. In the winter time, when significant temperature differences and strong gusts of wind are frequent phenomena, the air inflow from the outside is excessive. The V40P air inlet considerably limits the amount of inflowing air, protecting the room from excessive cooling, which noticeably reduces heating costs.
